I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day

On Christmas Day in 1863, during the war-torn era of the Civil War, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the famous American poet, composed the poem, “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day.” Within a decade, the poem was turned into a Christmas carol that is still sung to this day, including modern renditions.
